Competent person service
Your own, qualified and experienced Health and Safety advisor
Under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999), you’re legally required to appoint a “Competent Person” to help keep your H&S obligations on track.
You may also need to prove that your Competent Person has an industry-recognised qualification such as CMIOSH (Chartered Membership of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety). This applies if you’re applying for one of the SSIP schemes such as Safe Contractor or CHAS membership, subcontracting for another business, or bidding on a tender.
